A good night’s sleep is critical to general health and well-being. Yet many people may suffer from a sleep disorder and not even know it. Fortunately, the Sleep Study Lab of Walton Regional Medical Center can diagnose and treat a variety of sleep disorders, thanks to a unique combination of modern technology and the expertise of physician specialists and skilled technicians. The Sleep Study Lab monitors and evaluates patients during their sleep. It is specially equipped for daytime and nighttime sleep studies and offers patients comfortable rooms in which the studies are conducted. Technicians sit in workstations to observe and record sleep patterns, using state-of-the-art equipment. Sensors and electrodes can record breathing patterns, heart rate, and oxygen levels without creating any pain or discomfort for the patient.

A sleep disorder is a disruptive pattern of sleep that may include difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, falling asleep at inappropriate times, excessive total sleep, or abnormal behaviors associated with sleep.
