Diabetes Management Services

Living with diabetes is a lifelong commitment. Diabetes can be controlled and complications decreased or prevented through proper management. Walton Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Management Services teaches current, up-to-date ways to manage your diabetes with emphasis on wellness — stressing preventive measures rather than crisis reactions.

An individualized evaluation and plan of care is established for each person participating in Walton Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Program. The program is designed to meet the needs of all people with diabetes – those newly diagnosed and those who have had diabetes for a long time and need a review. Participants complete an individual assessment, may attend class if desired and receive follow-up counseling.  Classes are offered monthly. We have day and night classes available. One-on-one and group sessions are available.  We will work with you to decide what type of setting is appropriate for you. Relatives and close friends are also encouraged to attend all programs.

Our health care team includes a medical director, certified diabetes educators, registered nurses, registered dietitians, a podiatrist, an ophthalmologist, and a pharmacist. Our team will work together with your family physician to provide you with complete care. We are committed to helping you improve your lifestyle by increasing your knowledge of self-care skills. The most important team member is you! Together, we can make a difference.

Physician referral and advanced registration are required for all diabetes education services. Fee depends on services received. It is a good idea to check with your insurance company to see if your visits are covered. If you do not qualify for insurance coverage, you will be expected to pay for your visits. Payment plans can be arranged if needed. Your physician will receive a full report of your progress and participation.
